Chapter 3: She walks in

"The door opens without a knock.

He doesn’t look up right away. He’s used to interruptions. Most of them don’t matter.

Then she steps in.

Red hair, catching the light without trying. A silhouette that holds the room for just a second longer than it should. Not loud, not forced… just undeniable.

That’s when he looks.

And in that moment, he knows.

This one is trouble.

Fatale enters the same way.

Ginger sparks first, warmed by honey and clove, a heat that feels inviting, but not innocent. It draws you closer before you realize why. There’s a softness to it, but something beneath it keeps its distance, controlled, deliberate.

Then it deepens. Tobacco and bourbon unfold at the heart, smooth and intoxicating, with lavender moving quietly through it, just enough to blur the edges. Familiar, but never safe.

In the drydown, sandalwood, vanilla, and benzoin settle into a warm, resinous trail. Rich, enveloping, and impossible to ignore. It lingers in the air… even after she’s moved.

She says very little.

She doesn’t have to.

He leans back, watching, already knowing this won’t end clean.
