You wander in at twilight, when the air is still warm and the whole place smells green, sweet, and just a little humid. Fig trees stretch overhead, ivy climbs wherever it pleases, and lilac drifts through the fading light like it knows exactly what it’s doing.
Then you notice the statues.
Ancient marble figures stand around the garden in various states of elegance and disrepair, all of them looking far too serious for the situation. One in particular has clearly been “helped” by a passerby before you, modestly covered with a conveniently placed fig leaf. Tasteful. Respectable. Completely convincing.
Mostly.
That is the spirit of Enforced Modesty.
It opens with the sharp, lush greenness of fig leaf, ivy, and creeping thyme, brightened by a flicker of green mandarin. Then the scent softens into the milky sweetness of ripening fig and purple lilac, while marble and laurel wreaths give it that cool, classical finish.
The result is green, humid, elegant, and a little mischievous. It smells like a garden that is trying very hard to behave itself.
It is doing an okay job.
Notes: Fig leaf, ripening fig, marble, laurel wreaths, purple lilac, ivy, green mandarin, and creeping thyme.
